The onset of cooler weather not only signals winter's impending arrival, but also means dry and chapped skin is right around the corner. I know, collective sigh. I find that especially if you work in an office with a thermostat kept at a Sahara-like temperature during the winter months, your lips are the first to suffer (no matter how much water you drink). And, because of this constant flux in temperatures, I have become quite the lip balm addict.
Now that fall is officially underway I have started to amass a healthy lip balm collection for the cooler months ahead. I like to have products on hand wherever I am: kitchen, office, bedroom, car, the list goes on...I told you, I have a slight addiction.
Lately, I have been really drawn to all things rose scented from candles to gin (yes, really!). So, it's no surprise that this obsession would naturally extend to beauty products.
I have used ALL of the products corralled for this list multiple times, so while they are my personal picks, they are featured with an honest review.
Read on below for my picks of the best rose scented lip balms for cold weather.
This is the balm that started it all! Smith's Rosebud Perfume Co. has been around since 1895, and their Rosebud Salve remains the company's bestseller to date. The lightly scented salve 's emollient texture glides on lips smoothly and can be also used to tame flyaway's in a pinch, treat cuticles, and help heal cuts. If you're not a fan of dipping your fingers into a tin, the balm also comes in a convenient squeezable tube.
Launched in 2003, this balm has developed quite the cult following. It's definitely one of the pricier options on the list but it feels so luxe on your lips. It is ultra-moisturizing, has a subtle rose scent, and gives lips a pearly sheen. It has a pretty thick consistency so I find a little goes a long way with this balm. I like to personally use it as an indulgent treatment before bed.
If you're a sucker for pretty packaging you will be quickly adding this product to your beauty collection. I love to display this retro tin on my vanity or desk, as I just find it so pretty! Aside from it's pleasing aesthetic, what's on the inside is pretty good too: a subtle rose scent and smooth texture that instantly hydrates lips, while leaving behind a natural glossy finish. And, because the balm has a thicker consistency I have been known to use it on dry cuticles, too.
A good friend sent this lip conditioner to me in the mail and I am in love! It comes in 4 shades and the one I'm currently using is called Bamboo Rose, which gives your lips a natural nude tint. It has a delicate floral scent and I find I'm constantly reaching for this product while on the go. The only downside, and this is minor for me but I realize a show-stopper for others, is that the consistency is a little stickier than other options on the list.
You gotta love a great drugstore pick! Finally, Vaseline started packaging their signature all-purpose jelly into lip-centric products (have you seen their cute mini jars?) and this tin is no exception. For less than $4 you get a silky lip balm that leaves lips with a berry finish, perfect for those 'no-makeup makeup' days. The unique scent notes of rose, vanilla, and berry are intoxicating without being too cloying.
What are your feelings on rose scented products, yay or nay? Have you tried any of these lip balms? What are your go-to lip product picks? Let me know in the comments!
